Interesting Facts • Quilting is as old as ancient Egypt, if not older, and whole cloth quilts were very common trade goods in wealthy circles in Europe and Asia, going back as far as the 15th century.

• The earliest surviving quilt is from the first century BC to the second century AD. It was found in a Mongolian cave and is a quilted linen carpet.

• The first quilt book was originally published in 1915.

• Towards the end of the 19th Century the most popular quilt style was the Crazy Quilt that was made of simple random abstract shapes sewn together, and embroidery was then used to embellish the quilt.

Heritage Design Quilts are100% cotton and have not been pre-washed. We prefer to use cotton wadding as it ages gracefully and becomes softer with age.

It takes approximately 2-3 months from beginning to end; cutting of the pattern, piecing, assembling and preparing for the final hand quilting.

Colours are chosen to achieve that heritage look, although stronger colours have been used at times. Final product (Queen) weighs 5.5 kgs.
